The summer heat can be brutal, whether it’s blazing sunshine or insufferable humidity. But one way to beat it is cooling off by swimming! Swimming is a great workout for your body, as well as your mind. And it’s also a fun and social activity for families to bond together.
You don’t have to travel far to cool off either, because hk pools are all over the city. From family-friendly water slides to rooftop pools with gorgeous views, here are some of the best places in Hong Kong to go for a swim.
If your kids want to splash around in a pool that’s full of waterslides, fountains and other fun games, the Hammer Hill Road public swimming pool is where it’s at. With a pirate ship and water cannons, this destination public pool is popular with kids of all ages. But if they aren’t up for the big slide, the pool has plenty of other activities like the round stepping pool and toddler pool too.
Located in the heart of Wan Chai, this outdoor pool is a favourite amongst families. The pool has three leisure pools, a kid’s pool with swirling slides and animals and a training and teaching pool too. Plus, there’s even a Jacuzzi if you want to relax after your swim!
While you might think that an indoor pool isn’t as exciting, it’s still a good choice if you want to escape the heat and enjoy some quiet time. Kowloon Park’s pool complex is huge, and boasts a main pool, two diving pools, two teaching pools and a leisure pool with water play equipment. Plus, the pool is heated during winter so you can swim all year round!
A favourite for families, Kennedy Town’s public swimming pool has both indoor and outdoor pools. Their indoor pools are heated and have a Jacuzzi, while their outdoor pools offer stunning views of Victoria Harbour. Plus, if you’re not feeling like working out, you can chill in the lounge chair or grab a drink at the cafe!
There are 44 public swimming pools in Hong Kong, managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). Most outdoor pools open from April until October, while most of the indoor ones close for maintenance for approximately three weeks at a time.
